Well, this year, I’ve decided to transform my approach to goal setting using ChatGPT’s assistance.

In this article, I’ll walk you through exactly how to use ChatGPT to create impactful goals for yourself and your business.

Prompt #1 – Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

The first thing to remember is that believing in yourself is one of the MOST important things to do especially if you’re trying to accomplish a specific goal.

If you think you can’t do something, you probably won’t be able to. But if you believe you can, you’re already halfway there. Your thoughts are super powerful and can change your life.

Here’s a unique way to help you get rid of doubts using ChatGPT. It starts with you recognizing the doubts you have about yourself.

For example, let’s say that your big goal this year is to become financially independent.

But you might think you can’t make enough money to be financially free. You have to tell ChatGPT about this doubt and how it’s affecting you.

This method is all about helping you see that your doubts might not be true and that you can do more than you think.

Prompt #2 – Finding Your “Why”

Understanding why you want to achieve your goal is key. It’s not just about setting a goal because it sounds good. You need to really connect with it. If your goal means a lot to you personally, you’re much more likely to stick with it and overcome any challenges.

The reason I see so many people wanting to invest in real estate yet never do is that they don’t have a strong enough “why”. 

My “why” came after a fall while snow skiing that hurt my wrist. It made me realize that without the use of my hands, I couldn’t provide for my family as a dentist. 

This pushed me to NEVER quit on my pursuit of becoming a real estate investor in syndications.

So, to really get to the heart of why you want to achieve your goal, you can use ChatGPT for help.

Again, we’re going to say your goal is financial independence. You can ask ChatGPT to take you through a reflection exercise. The idea is to dig deep and figure out what’s driving you towards this goal. How does it match up with what you value in life? What are your big dreams and how does this goal fit into them?

As you can see, ChatGPT will ask you some important questions. It’ll get you to think about why you chose this goal and what makes it important to you. You’ll list your values and see if they align with your goal.

Plus, you’ll explore the strong feelings you might have about reaching this goal.

Trust me, taking the time to answer these questions is super important.

Prompt #3 – Setting SMARTER Goals

The third prompt is all about setting SMARTER goals. A lot of times, people don’t reach their goals because they’re not clear enough, they’re too hard, or they don’t really want them.

To make sure your goals are great, you can use a special method called the SMARTER framework. This stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound, Exciting, and Reviewable.

Here’s how you can use ChatGPT to help with this.

You tell ChatGPT, “Can you help me use the SMARTER framework for my goal of financial independence?”

Then, you’ll work through each part of the framework step by step. ChatGPT will give you advice and ask questions for each part, helping you make your goal as clear and good as possible.

So, you’ll go through each letter of SMARTER one at a time. ChatGPT won’t move to the next step until you’re ready. This way, by the end, you’ll have a goal that’s really well thought out and doesn’t “suck.” It’ll be clear, possible, and something you’re excited about.

Prompt #4 – Breaking Goals Down

For the fourth prompt, we’re going to handle big or ambitious goals by breaking them down into smaller, easier-to-manage parts. This makes a big goal feel less overwhelming.

The prompt you can use with ChatGPT goes like this: “My goal of [insert your goal] feels overwhelming. Can you break it down into smaller, more manageable tasks?”

ChatGPT will then list out smaller goals or tasks that you can work on. These small tasks are steps that will lead you towards your bigger goal.

For example, if your goal is financial independence, ChatGPT might suggest tasks like assessing your current financial situation, defining what financial independence means to you, and creating a budget.

Each of these smaller tasks is something you can handle more easily. They add up over time to help you reach your big goal of financial independence. This way, you’re not trying to do everything at once, which can feel really hard. Instead, you’re taking it one step at a time.

Prompt #5 & 6 – Obstacles & Visualization

You’re bound to face obstacles when working towards any goal. These could be unexpected costs when aiming for financial independence or tempting situations like a party when you’re trying to lose weight.

Obstacles are a normal part of the journey towards any goal.

The best way to overcome these is to be ready for them from the start. To do this, you can use two prompts with ChatGPT.

First prompt:

What are some common obstacles I might face in achieving [your goal]?”

This helps you know what challenges to expect.

Once you know the obstacles, the second part involves using visualization to prepare for them. This means imagining each obstacle and thinking about how you’ll handle them.

This can really help you get ready for these challenges, think about how to overcome them, and build up your ability to deal with tough situations.

Second prompt:

So, the second prompt is: “I’m working towards [your goal]. Could you help me visualize potential challenges and think through my responses?” You need to outline three things:

  1. Possible challenges: What main obstacles might come up?
  2. Choices: What can I do in these situations?
  3. Solutions: How can I effectively get past these challenges?

ChatGPT will then give you a bunch of possible obstacles related to your goal, different choices you have for each one, and ways you could solve them.

This approach helps you plan and feel more confident about handling whatever comes your way on your journey to achieving your goal.

For the seventh prompt, it’s all about finding an accountability partner to help you achieve your goal.

An accountability partner can:

  • offer support
  • keep you on track
  • motivate you

It’s especially helpful if you don’t really like talking to people much (like me).

To find an accountability partner, you can ask ChatGPT for advice with this prompt: “I’m planning to achieve [specific goal], and I’m looking for an accountability partner to join me. Can you suggest some effective ways to find someone who shares this goal? Maybe through social media, local groups, or community events? Please be specific.”

ChatGPT will then give you ideas on where and how to find someone who can be your accountability partner. This might include suggestions for social media groups, local community groups, or events where you might meet like-minded people.

If you want to get more specific, you can ask ChatGPT to focus on a particular area. For example, you can ask for groups in your local area or for more details on a specific suggestion ChatGPT gave you.

This can help you find the right person who shares your goal and can help you stay on track.

Prompt #8 – Best Practices

For the eighth prompt, we’ll use ChatGPT to determine which habits can help us reach our goals. Habits are super important because they’re the small, daily actions that lead us to success.

Here’s the prompt:Can you help me figure out what habits would be beneficial to form for my goal of [specific goal]? And can you give me some strategies on how to form them?”

With this prompt, ChatGPT will give you a list of habits that could be helpful for your goal. It will also provide strategies on how to start and keep these habits.

For example, if your goal is to save money, ChatGPT might suggest habits like creating a weekly budget or cutting down on unnecessary expenses. It could also offer strategies like setting reminders or tracking expenses in an app.

Together, these habits and strategies can make a big difference in helping you achieve your goal.

Prompt #9 – Daily Routine

For the ninth prompt, it’s all about making changes to your daily routine to match up with your goal. Changing your routine is a big step towards achieving what you want.

The prompt you can use with ChatGPT is: “Can you help me create a daily routine that aligns with my goal of [your specific goal]?”

When you use this prompt, ChatGPT will come up with a full daily routine for you. It’s truly incredible!

This routine will include specific actions designed to help you reach your goal.

Get in shape

For example, if your goal is to get fit, ChatGPT might suggest a routine that includes time for exercise, healthy meal prep, and enough sleep.

Learn a new language

Or, if your goal is to learn a new language, the routine might have dedicated time for language lessons and practice.

It’s interesting how the routine ChatGPT suggests might be similar to what you already do. But the key is that it’s tailored to help you achieve your specific goal. This can be helpful in making sure that every day, you’re doing something that moves you closer to your goal.

Prompt #10 – Motivation!

For the final prompt, it’s a simple yet powerful one, designed to give you a boost when your motivation is low and you feel like you might give up.

The prompt is:I’m in need of some quick motivation boost as I’m losing motivation to achieve my goal of [your goal]. Can you recommend a list of motivational movies, books, quotes, podcasts, music, and meditations? I’m looking for resources that are uplifting and inspiring, especially for moments when I need to re-energize and refocus on my goals.”

Motivational resources

When you use this prompt with ChatGPT, it will provide you with a variety of motivational resources. These could be specifically tailored to your goal, like in your case with financial independence.

You might get suggestions for inspiring movies that focus on financial success (i.e., Wolf on Wall Street), books about wealth building, uplifting quotes from successful entrepreneurs, podcasts that discuss financial strategies, music that energizes you, or meditations that help refocus your mindset on your financial goals.

This list can be beneficial for those times when you need an extra push or a bit of inspiration to keep going. Remember, it’s normal to have moments where your motivation dips, but having the right resources can make a big difference in getting back on track.
